%{{tag.tag}} {{articledata.title}} {{moment(articledata.cdate)}} @{{articledata.company.replace(" ","")}} comment %NaturalGas prices have soared to their highest level in two years as cold winter weather strains supplies in both Europe and North America. The price of natural gas rose 1.7% to $3.503 per million British thermal units, or MMBtu, on Feb. 10, its highest level since the end of 2022. The current rise is due to low temperatures depleting European gas reserves, with temperatures in many parts of northern Europe freezing. The cold temperatures are expected to continue over the coming days, and the ongoing demand is expected to further deplete European gas reserves that are already at their lowest level since the start of 2022. Also pushing prices higher is the threat of U.S. tariffs, with President Donald Trump having called on the European Union to purchase more American oil and gas to avoid trade tariffs. The U.S. is already Europe's largest supplier of liquefied natural gas (%LNG). Also impacting prices is the fact that Ukrainian natural gas production facilities were damaged in a Russian attack in recent days. Prices for natural gas have now almost doubled over the past year.
