The clash comes days after the Chinese government expanded COVID-19 lockdown measures across the country as the number of infections of the respiratory disease hit record levels. %Apple ($AAPL ) has been facing significant supply chain constraints due to ongoing issues at the Foxconn plant in China, saying it expects iPhone 14 shipments to be slow heading into this year’s peak holiday sales season. A COVID-19 outbreak in October forced the Foxconn plant to lockdown and temporarily close. To help retain workers, Foxconn said it has quadrupled daily bonuses for workers at the plant. However, some social media posts show Foxconn workers complaining that the company has failed to honor its promise of bonus pay. Workers at the Chinese plant have also complained about poor COVID-19 protective measures. The Zhengzhou facility is the world’s largest iPhone manufacturing plant. It typically produces 50% to 60% of the world’s iPhones. Apple warned earlier in November of disruptions to its supply chain due to ongoing issues at the %Foxconn plant in China, saying that customers will feel an impact over the holidays this year. Apple’s stock is down 17% this year and trading at $151.07 U.S. per share.
